The BTR-152 (also known as the BTR-140) was a Soviet wheeled armored personnel carrier without amphibious capability (BTR is an acronym for Bronetrans...porter—БТР, Бронетранспортер, literally 'armored transport' in Russian—7), which entered entered service in 1950. By 1970 it had been superseded by the BTR-60. However, it continued to see service in the Soviet Army and the Russian Ground Forces until 1993 in a variety of roles. It was also exported to several Third World countries, where some are still in service.
