3d model description

This is a dice box, tower, and tray combo. It has a drawer for fitting 7 different types of dice (d4 d6, d8, d10, d10, d12, and d20) in a standard set.... It can hold at least 7 of each type of dice (I used it with my set of 49 dice, 7 of each type.)

There are several holes for 8x1mm magnets, which facilitate keeping the drawer closed fully, as well as keeping the tower together when in use. See magnet direction pictures for polarity of magnets. Pick a direction on the magnets to call south or north, then keep it consistent.

I have included several versions with and without the designs. You will need a tray top, tray bottom, drawer, and each tower piece for a full set.

This print needs at least a 200mm bed! See misc instructions below for instructions on how to print a full 200mm object with Cura.

I printed using Hatchbox Wood Filament and using the online Wood Grain tool, then sanded and stained. I used
this website
to make the wood grain.

8/13/2019: Changed pins on tray bottom into holes. For alignment, simply clip off ~10mm bits of filament to put into holes to use as pins. Holes are over sized to allow for shrinking. Tray bottom now marked v6.

4/16/2019: Increased height of tray bottom (now marked v5) to give a little more vertical tolerance for the drawer. All tolerances (each side of drawer, each side of tower pieces) are now 0.3mm, so make sure your printer is capable of that. If you are still having issues, I'd recommend printing the drawer itself at 99.5%, which will give it extra room.

8/23/2018: Added DXF source file for compatability with editing in openSCAD. (Note: I do not use openSCAD, so this may not work.)

5/25/2018: Added magnet polarity charts for reference when assembling.

1/23/2018: Added source files in STEP and F3D formats. This was originally designed in Fusion 360, so I would recommend using that to edit. To change magnet size, edit the parameters (Modify -> Change Parameters in Fusion 360). MagDia changes the diameter of the magnet holes (set a little larger than the magnet size to fit), while MagDep changes the depth of the holes. MagDis changes the distance offset of the center of the magnet holes to the wall, may need to be changed if your magnets are too large.

V6: Fixed one of the half circle cutouts on the tray top, as well as making it 2mm deeper to accommodate a felt bottom if desired.

V5: Made dice inscriptions on Tray top slightly thicker for visibility. Purely cosmetic.

V4: Pegs and holes for connecting upper and lower trays are now larger to accommodate printing. Magnet holes on vertical faces are now 8.45mm instead of 8.2mm to accommodate shrinking when using the wood grain tool. Removed old files to make it less cluttered.

V3: Added a version that has 23mm depth in the drawer instead of 20mm. May help those with slightly larger dice. Note, each dice slot is 23mm wide, so this may be the tallest this design can handle.

V2: Cleaned up the arcane circle on top a little. Files marked V2 for convenience. I didn't apply this to the version with a support, as the support is technically unnecessary.
