"Split Decision": Possibly the world's most obnoxious puzzle box!
Inspired by the "A-Mazing Box" by wizard23 (

), this box is a challenge for serious puzzle solvers. You may think it looks like a simple maze, but it's far from it. . . there are tricks and false paths; one wrong turn and you can get completely lost. . . I have provided a picture of the closed box in case anyone thinks it's not solvable. There are two separate challenges, one of which is to get the box closed, and the other of which is to get it open. Neither challenge is easy! You have been warned. The solution is revealed in the PDF file in the downloads. Don't peek!

3d model print parameters

You can simply print from the STL files; there are two of them, part1 and part2. The first part of the assembly is easy: put the two half-cylinders ar...ound the smallest cylinder, with the beveled edges matching. Then insert that assembly into the largest cylinder, and solve the maze until the box is completely closed. When closed, the box lid will "click" into place. Do yourself a favor and print with a semi-transparent filament, so that you have some ability to see what you're doing when trying to solve it. The OpenSCAD files used to make the maze box are included. The top-level file is "split_decision.scad" and includes the other two. The maze itself is defined in "mazesplitdef.scad". All major dimensions are parameterized, so that you can print a maze box cylinder of any dimension you like. Be aware of long (~2 hour) compile times in OpenSCAD. You can use the OpenSCAD files to make your own maze design, but you will need to have a thorough understanding of how the puzzle works. The example puzzle I have made is not the most devious, twisted maze that can be done in this configuration. Can you make a harder maze? You can always make a bigger maze, but the key here is the unexpected traps, the paths that aren't where they're supposed to be, the dead ends that appear where you weren't expecting them.
