The Focke-Wulf Fw 190, nicknamed Würger ('shrike' in German), is a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank in the late 1930s. This... single-seat, radial-engined aircraft was the last German mass-produced piston fighter that saw action during the war. It partially replaced the successful Messerschmitt Bf 109 from 1941. Since its production began in 1941 it was continuously improved until the end of the war, during which time more than 20,000 aircraft were manufactured. By 1945 the Fw 190 was operating effectively on all fronts.
