The dimensions are fairly tight to the iPhone 12 mini, so you might accidentally hit buttons while trying to insert the iPhone into this tray. I recommend insert it at an angle, sleep button first.
I also added a little tab to make removing the tray easier.

I am a big fan of the VR Headset by mikebattaglia and the VR iPhone adapter tray by ne14pez, and after upgrading to the iPhone 12 mini I realized I wa...s in need of a new adapter tray, so I whipped this up in Fusion 360.The dimensions are fairly tight to the iPhone 12 mini, so you might accidentally hit buttons while trying to insert the iPhone into this tray.
